A Quieter Way
to See the City

Sober In San Francisco is a curated travel guide for the mindful traveler — a collection of stillness, story, and real places chosen for their ability to slow you down.

Fog drifting through the Presidio

The Story

It began as a letter to a friend.

She was coming to San Francisco for the first time sober, terrified of a city she associated with excess. She asked where to go that wouldn't test her. So I wrote her seven mornings — the cafés, the trails, the benches where the city quiets down.

She wrote back and said it changed her trip. Not because she saw more, but because she saw less, more fully. That letter became this guide.

The Vision

Mindful city travel, one quiet moment at a time.

Most travel guides try to fill every hour. This one asks you to leave some empty. To sit on a bench and watch the fog. To drink your coffee without documenting it. To walk a trail where the only sound is your own footsteps.

Every place in these guides is chosen for one quality: the ability to help you slow down. We believe a city is best experienced not at full capacity, but in its quietest, most intentional corners.

Stillness

Places chosen for their silence — not their popularity.

Intention

Routes timed for the quietest hours of the day.

Presence

Experiences that ask you to put the phone away.

The Curator

Lane Kennedy

Mindfulness teacher, functional nutritionist, and the city's "Calm Docent." Lane regulates nervous systems through a calm, intuitively guided voice — no guru persona, no influencer vibes. Just quiet, grounded, real presence.

I built this guide because I needed it myself. After years of "optimizing" every trip, I realized the best moments were the ones I almost skipped. The ones with nothing to post about. This guide is for those moments.

The Guides Hold More

The blog and the map are an invitation. The guides are the whole journey — three days of timed routes, a zero-proof directory, and the hidden corners I return to. Grab one before you go.
